First of all, you need to choose a place to which the cat will have continuous and easy access. When placing the litter box in a given place, it is worth taking care of:

  1. Quiet place – the litter box should be in such a place that there is no noise. This is important as a cat will not defecate in the litter box if it is fearful of its surroundings and feels fearful.
  2. Easy access – the litter box must be placed in such a place that the cat has access to it 24 hours a day.
  3. Spacious place – when choosing a room, it is worth choosing one that is spacious. In addition, do not place food and water for the cat near the litter box. This may discourage him from eating or using the litter box.
  4. Safe place – when placing a litter box in a given room, we must ensure safety. This is very important, because as a guardian, we must ensure the cat’s comfort. It is very important that the cat does not feel discomfort. In addition, the litter box should have positive associations for the pet.
  5. A well-ventilated room – an important aspect when choosing a room where we will place the litter box is to choose a room that will be well-ventilated. Thanks to good ventilation, unpleasant odors will quickly get outside and thus will not discourage the cat from using the litter box.
  6. Fixed place – it is important not to move the litter box to a different place every now and then. Doing so can make your cat feel discouraged and embarrassing. If we put the litter box in a certain place, it should be there all the time.
  7. Limited visibility – the litter box should be placed in a place that is rarely frequented by the household members, and at the same time easily accessible to the cat. It is not worth putting the litter box on the balcony, on the terrace or in the garden. Unfortunately, the hustle and bustle, noise, and the constant appearance of various animals ranging from birds to dogs can discourage the cat from using the litter box in these places.
